December 2nd,  2009 - We hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday, we enjoyed it south of the border doing some monster truckin! But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s roll back the clock to the beginning of October where we last left off here on the site. We started the month heading up to California for three more shows in three cities on the Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular tour. The first stop would be Santa Maria at the Fairpark where Ronnie kicked off the tour with a big overall win Nasty Boy.

The next weekend would be two shows in two cities in two days. Friday in Victorville and Saturday in Indio, but the story would be the same both nights – great runs from Sam, Ronnie and Travis, but it was still Darren Migues walking away with the wins in Bounty Hunter.

After a week off back at the shop, the team made the short trip over to Yuma, Arizona for our first AMP Monster Truck Thunder Slam event since winter. Sam and Ronnie had a great time running against Rodney Tweedy in Bigfoot, and Ronnie even managed to beat him out for the Friday night freestyle win. Yuma is always a good time, always fun to run close to home.

Halloween weekend and MONSTER trucks – what could be a better fit? That’s exactly what the team was doing as they participated in the Fall Nationals event in Farmington, New Mexico. Sam and Ronnie put on great shows both nights, while Travis got the fans charged up Saturday after breaking off a wheel during his freestyle run. It was great seeing all the kids come out in the Halloween costumes and hanging out with them at the pit party. Be sure to check the photo gallery for pictures from this weekend courtesy of our friends at TheMonsterBlog.com.

The next weekend we were headed back out to California. After fixing a bunch of damage from the Farmington event, we were ready to run against Migues and Bounty Hunter once again. Sam and Ronnie put forth excellent efforts but Migues would roll Bounty and pick up another win.

After a couple weeks off, it was down to Mexico again for the last Monster Trucks Showdown of the year. Our Thanksgiving was spent hanging out at the border but it was all worth it as Monterrey ended up having a huge crowd and we ran with some great trucks. Ronnie was pushing hard in the second round of racing, trying to do what has been nearly impossible for anyone this year – beat Jimmy Creten in racing. As they approached the final corner flat out, Nasty Boy kicked up on two wheels. Ronnie made a great effort to try and save it but after bringing back down to all fours, the momentum carried the truck over in the other direction and there was no saving it this time. Heavy body damage to Nasty Boy, but hey, it’s the last show of the year, we’ve got time to fix it. Sam took that same approach to freestyle as he put on a great show in Unnamed, picking up wheelies and getting one massive launch over the bus stack. Another big thanks to Omar Salman and everyone with nVivo Live Events for making us a part of their entire 2009 Mexican tour. We’re already looking forward to running with them again in 2010!

The team is taking the month of December to work on the trucks and prepare for a big 2010. It was a great year for the team as Ronnie ended up with 11 racing wins and 22 freestyle wins for a total of 33 victories on the year. Ronnie’s racing win percentage was a great 25% meaning Nasty Boy was in victory lane in one out of every four racing competitions! Sam proved he’s still got it in Unnamed & Untamed grabbing 5 racing wins of his own and another 8 freestyle wins for the team. And on top of all that, we lost count of how many times these tailgate dragging masters nailed down wheelie contest victories! We were also excited to have Travis Sturges join us for most of the year driving 1/2 Pint. Travis has drove for the team many times over the years, but it was great to have him back out on the road with us in 2009.

We are currently booking for 2010 and we’re ready to go even bigger and harder than we did this year. Contact us now to get Unnamed & Untamed, Nasty Boy and 1/2 Pint at your events for the 2010! So far we’re excited to announce our return to the Checkered Flag Productions Monster Truck Winter Nationals tour for a couple of dates, along with doing a couple more for AMP’s Monster Truck Thunder Slam. And of course the trucks will once again be staples with the Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular tour. A big thanks to everyone who was a part of our 2009 season, we’ll be ready to start it all over again in just a few weeks!

September 29th,  2009 - As summer begins to turn to fall, we take a look back at the wild August and September tour that the Sturges team has been on, a total of fifteen shows in just eight weeks! After a couple weeks in Texas to finish off the month of July, we would continue on with the Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular tour through South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana through August.

We kicked things off on the first at the Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, South Dakota where Sam and Ronnie put on a great show for a packed house. Jimmy Creten would take the win in Bounty Hunter, but the Sturges team would be back on top shortly. Three shows in three days would be up next in Brighton and Colorado Springs, Colorado, with Ronnie taking all three events in Nasty Boy.

With that big weekend in the books, it was out to Wyoming for the next three shows in three days madness. Friday in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Saturday in Rapid City, South Dakota would see Darren Migues in Bounty Hunter taking the overall wins despite strong runs from Sam and Ronnie. But on Sunday, Sam was determined to break up the Bounty Hunter domination as he tore up Thunder Speedway in Unnamed & Untamed, tieing for the overall victory with Migues.

Migues would continue to run strong picking up the win the next weekend in Helena, Montana, but it would be Nasty Boy’s turn in victory lane as the team finished the month in Greeley, Colorado. Ronnie rocked the Greeley Rodeo Arena to complete a clean sweep of the Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular summer tour of Colorado.

After a long, grueling month of August, the team returned home for the annual labor day monster trucks right in the hometown of Tucson. With all three trucks ready to run against veteran Gary Schott in Terminator, the Sam and Ronnie wasted no time dominating the weekend. Friday night Ronnie took straight line racing and freestyle, while Sam picked up the Chicago-style racing victory. Saturday night the rain came and washed out the racing part of the night, but Sam still managed to put on a great, mud-slinging freestyle to pick up the win.

No rest for the weary as, after cleaning up and servicing the trucks, it was off to Mexico for another great Monster Trucks Showdown. With a stacked ten truck lineup in Tijuana, Sam was on a rail in racing working his way to the finals against Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter. Despite a great effort by Sam, Jimmy continued his amazing season by edging Unnamed for the big racing win. Sam and Ronnie both had great freestyles to finish out another fun weekend with Omar and the nVivo Live Events bunch.

After getting back from Mexico and spending another couple days working on the trucks, it was back on tour with Outlaw Monster Trucks. Lawton, Oklahoma would be our first stop where we would once again be facing off against the 2Xtreme Racing trucks. Sam and Ronnie put on a great show but big air from the Bounty Hunter kept them out of victory lane. Two mid-week shows in Abilene, Texas at the speedway would finish out our month strong.

With just about a week to work in the shop, we’re back on the road again this coming weekend starting a three show tour in California. Check out the Schedule page to see where we’ll be next and look at the Photos page to see coverage from Lawton. The Lawton event was also featured on TheMonsterBlog.com’s TMB TV, click here to see the Sturges trucks in action. We’ll be back with you soon as we keep you up to date on all the happenings with Sturges Motorsports!

July 30th,  2009 - The month of July has been a lot of fun for the Sturges team as we’ve spent time in California and went back to Texas for the first time since this winter. We kicked off the month with the always fun Kaboom event in Pomona on July 4th. Sam and Ronnie put on a show, walking wheelies up and down the track but they couldn’t quite top Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter.

The 2Xtreme team followed the Sturges team to the next stop at Show Low, Arizona’s Thunder Raceway. Sam, Ronnie and Travis did a great job all weekend but again the wins would go to Bounty Hunter each night. The next two weeks would be spent on tour for Outlaw Monster Trucks in Texas, with stops in Longview and Lubbock. Sam and Ronnie would be back on top in Texas, splitting the wins each weekend between Unnamed and Nasty Boy.

After touring with Outlaw Monster Trucks in Texas, the team will follow the tour to Colorado to start off August, check out the Schedule page for more info. Also be sure to check out the Photos page for new pics from Jim Allen and the Videos page for lots of new footage. Stay tuned for more updates!

July 3rd,  2009 - May and June are in the books for Sturges Motorsports as we’ve spent a lot of time on tour with the Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular, run two more big events in Mexico and performed for the hometown fans once again. The month of May kicked off with a one-night, freestyle-only Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular show in Laughlin, Arizona, and would continue with the same tour and show format for the next three weeks in St. George, Utah and Victorville and Indio, California. This would be a great run for Ronnie in Nasty Boy as he would be declared the overall winner in all four shows! This swing would also see Travis Sturges taking over the seat of ½ Pint, doing a great job learning the truck. Then it was on down to Mexicali, Mexico for the Monster Trucks Showdown. The team performed great once again as Sam picked up the racing win in Unnamed, and he and Ronnie in Nasty Boy tied with Bill Payne and Rock Star for the freestyle win to finish out May.

June would see the team back on the road with Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular for two weeks, doing two shows in Pueblo, Colorado and one more in Tularosa, New Mexico. Sam and Ronnie would team up to sweep the three show swing, with Sam taking one freestyle win in Pueblo and Ronnie taking the victory in the other two shows. The team would be glad to be back home the next weekend, with friend and former driver Jon Avenetti filling in for Travis in ½ Pint for the weekend and doing a great job. It would be another successful weekend as Ronnie swept both nights of freestyle and won straight line on Friday night, while Sam picked up the Chicago-style racing win on Saturday. The next week the team was making the haul south of the border for the third time this year to Culiacan, Sonora, another new venue for the Monster Trucks Showdown. The team would fight some breakage during freestyle but they still performed great for the Mexican fans.

Tomorrow night the team will be in Pomona, California for the annual Kaboom event at the L.A. County Fairgrounds. Happy 4th of July to all of our fans, we hope to see you at an event soon!

May 1st, 2009 - It’s been a great run for Sturges Motorsports since our last update, as the team has done big events in Mexico and Phoenix and competed in our first hometown show of the year. First the team was in Victorville, California on March 14th for a one night event where Ronnie drove Nasty Boy to another overall win in freestyle. The next weekend the team would be close to home again, running the AMP Thunder Slam at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott, Arizona. Ronnie and Sam took turns sweeping an evening of competition, with Ronnie winning everything on Friday and Sam taking all the wins on Saturday. March would conclude as the team headed back down to Mexico for the first time in 2009, this time to a new venue for the Monster Trucks Showdown in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora. This show would be freestyle-only and the competition wouldn’t have anything for Unnamed & Untamed as Sam picked up the big win.

April would get started as the team got to do one of our favorite shows at the local Rodeo Grounds in Tucson, Arizona. Team friend Gary Schott Jr. would climb behind the wheel of ½ Pint for the weekend and would do a great job, winning the Chicago-style racing each night. Ronnie won straight line racing Friday night, and the team also managed to sweep freestyle with Ronnie winning Friday and Sam Saturday. After a couple of weeks off to work on the trucks, it was time for one of the team’s biggest shows of the year, the Firebird Raceway Monster Truck Nationals & Lakefest. The event is the team’s big chance to compete against top trucks not often seen out west like Bounty Hunter, Bigfoot and Avenger. Over the course of the two-day show, Sam and Ronnie held their own against the tough competition, putting on some great freestyles including a runner-up finish to Bounty Hunter for Ronnie in ½ Pint Saturday night. The wheelie contest belonged to the wheelie master as Sam dragged Unnamed’s tailgate multiple times in a shower of sparks on the strip. And so ended April, another great month for the team.

Check out the Schedule page to see where the team is headed next, and also watch the Media section as we add photos and videos from Firebird and more, coming soon!

March 15th, 2009 - Welcome to all the new online home of Sturges Motorsports!!  2009 has brought many exciting new developments here to the Sturges team, including a brand new chassis built in-house for our flagship truck, Unnamed & Untamed.

We have also brought back some history as Unnamed & Untamed is sporting the famous, old-school pink & teal paint scheme.  Continuing with that theme, the new chassis has allowed us to expand to three race trucks and we have resurrected the 1/2 Pint name on the third truck.

Sam and Ronnie have had a busy first two months of the season, with Sam breaking in the new truck and Ronnie pulling double-duty driving both Nasty Boy and 1/2 Pint.  The new truck is performing great and has drawn rave reviews from fans and fellow competitors alike.  Check out the YouTube video below to see the new truck in action:

The team kicked off the new year racing in Victoria, TX for the Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular the first weekend out. Ronnie drove Nasty Boy to a clean sweep of the three freestyle-only shows, beginning what has been a great season thus far for Ronnie.  From there began a several week tour with AMP Live Events and the Monster Truck Thunder Slam, starting with a one-night only event in San Angelo, TX.  Ronnie was back in the winner's circle in racing, and both drivers did great in freestyle.  Next on the tour was El Paso, TX where Sam piloted the new truck to its first win, taking the Saturday night freestyle victory.  Aztec, NM was a great event for Sturges Motorsports, as Sam and Ronnie combined to take a cleap sweep of the weekend's events.  Ronnie would take both nights of racing and the Saturday freestyle while Sam would be #1 in freestyle Friday.  From there it was back down to Texas for two nights with AMP in Abilene.  Ronnie continued to dominate in racing, taking both wins in Nasty Boy as the team wrapped up their four week AMP tour.

A few weeks off have followed which has allowed the team the opportunity to continue tuning on the trucks, getting ready to hit the road again this weekend in Victorville, CA for Steve Quercio.  In the meantime, the team also participated in filming for a foreign reality TV show--more on this in our next update, stay tuned!

We hope you enjoy the new website, bear with us as we continue to finish updating things.  We hope to see you all at a show, be sure to stop and say hello!!
